Through the Seasons with the Brennans Series
An inspiring, realistically written series geared for ages 12-18 but readable by all ages!
The Brennans are an Anabaptist homeschool family. Read more about them below.
The Brennan family lives on the rural outskirts of Minchinsburg, a small city in Vermont, on about 100 acres of land that is mostly wooded. Dad’s main occupation is carpentry.
The Brennans make maple syrup each spring from 6,000 taps. Most of their taps are on a system of lines that runs down into tanks, which they then truck about two miles to their sugarhouse. They also have a few hundred taps on buckets. They process the sap through a reverse osmosis and an evaporator. Afterward they filter and bottle the syrup, which they retail from their house and at local stores. The woods provides more for the Brennans than just delicious maple syrup. Dad and the boys also cut trees to make firewood and lumber (which they mill on a small sawmill).
All year they run a car-parking service; people park cars on their land and can carpool with friends, get rides to the airport in Minchinsburg via a local bus company, or just leave their car for awhile. The business also includes cleaning snow off cars and shoveling around them in the winter.
Daily activities beyond these two businesses include homeschooling, cooking, cleaning, gardening, preserving food, and more. The family also takes time to play together, and they are constantly pointed to God and His Word throughout their everyday lives.
